Thottempudi Gopichand made his acting debut as a lead actor in the Telugu movie Tolivalapu in 2001. After that, Gopichand acted as a villain in the movies Jayam, Najam, and Varsham. The Jayam movie was remade in Tamil in 2003 with Ravi Mohan as the hero and Gopichand as the villain in this movie.
Yagnam, a movie starring Gopichand, was released in 2004 and got blockbuster success at the box office. Gopichand got good recognition through this movie, and after Yagnam, Gopichand got good opportunities as a hero.
